Fresh Media (2011, Boston, MA, USA) is a student-led multi-day exhibition in Boston. As a student in an MFA program focused on digital and interactive experiences, I was instrumental in the conceptualization and launch of the show. With funders in the Dean’s office at the Massachusetts College of Art & Design, I managed budgets, scouted locations, advised exhibiting artists (i.e., fellow graduate students) on how best to arrange their work for the space and audience, oversaw installation and deinstallation, managed artist talks, and facilitated the design, production, and distribution of collateral materials. The 2011 exhibition was one-week long, staged in a vacant office space in Boston’s West End neighbourhood, but the Fresh Media concept has persisted since and has grown to a multi-week show at Boston Cyberarts, a gallery specifically focused on art and technology in the city’s Jamaica Plain neighbourhood. It was—and still is—visited by scores of MassArt students and faculty, artist family and friends, and the general public.
